What happened

Terre Haute resident Douglas Hollingsworth told the council that neighbors near his home keep setting up basketball hoops in the street — including one block from where children were previously hit by a car — while cars drive 30 to 40 miles per hour past them. He said he had looked up the city ordinance banning basketball hoops in the street but that code enforcement isn't acting on it, and that he'd seen the same problem in multiple spots around town on his way to the meeting.
